Operation Duryodhana & Operation Chakravyuha

As i woke up today morning and glanced at the TOI main page i found a landmark decision being taken in the history of indian democracy. The 11 tainted ministers who have been involved in the Cash for query scam and MPLAD scam have been expelled by the parliament.i have seen many scams starting from Bofors, urea,JMM bribery case, tehelka, the much recent volcker report revelation and the list can goes on.India has been ranked as among the most corrupted nations of the world by many International agiencies. i could say that corruption has got into our blood and is no more a social stigma. i have been part of many GDs discussing about Corruption and how to face this menace and pondered about how can we get over this evil. For rooting out the corruption,I believe that it should start from the top. when we see our political leaders who have been our role models during the pre and immediate post independence era are now very much submerged into the ocean of corrupt activities. Also there has little that has been done to check this. One of the glaring examples is the case of Sukhram. everybody knows what happened to him. Such type of incidents actually demolish the faith that one has on the democarcy.
But today decision has been truly a landmark one. It was the need of the hour that the decision should be line to uphold the dignity of the citadel of the indian decomacry. And not only the entire nation but the whole world was looking at what the decision would be.It is true that these 11 ministers were just unlucky enough to get caught and there are many many big shots into all this but it is also true that we have to make a beginning somewhere. I would like to congratulate Media(the fourth pillar of the democracy) for keeping up to its role.
I believe that corruption can be tackled and rooted out with the help of technology( right to information act, ITC echoupal ), bringing private players into the fray to increase competition, literacy and not to forget the Media's role.
we need to clean up these corrupt practices and mentalities and work together to realise the dream of India becoming the world power by 2050. Amen !!!!
